This much-loved Saturday market, bridges the burgeoning Williamsburg community and long-time Greenpoint Polish communities who come to shop, mingle with neighbors, and enjoy McCarren Park. Open since 1997, this market has adapted to the changing face of the neighborhood while staying true to its loyal customers. Every Saturday come listen to music by local artists, learn facts about featured market produce, take home market recipes, watch cooking demonstrations by local chefs and the market manager, and participate in family friendly activities! There is also GrowNYC's Textile Recycling and Compost Collection from 8am to 2pm. EBT/Food Stamps, Debit/Credit, and WIC & FMNP checks accepted. EBT/Debit/Credit accepted from 8am to 2pm. The $19.5 million GREENPOINT COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL FUND (GCEF) is now reviewing 24 proposals for 2014 Large and Legacy Grants – totaling $25 million in requested funding – for projects to improve Greenpoint’s environment, including promoting open space, green neighborhoods, education and stewardship, and other community priorities. On November 20 and 22nd, GCEF will host events to give  Greenpoint residents an opportunity to express their preferences for those proposed environmental improvement projects that you want funded in your community. More details on these “preferencing” events will be coming soon. In the meantime, please mark your calendars, and spread the word.
