Father’s Day Portraits at Saturday’s Greenmarket

by Pamela Boyle on

This Saturday at Greenpoint/McCarren Park Greenmarket is Portrait Day! We will have professional photographer Tim Schutsky at the market taking portraits of our customers, their families and their beautiful market goods. The photos will be taken digitally and uploaded to Brooklyn Greenmarket’s facebook page, where you can tag yourself or print a copy from home. Not sure what to get dad for Father’s Day? Frame him a lovely family photo taken at the market!

Grain producer Cayuga Pure Organics has suffered a devastating fire that demolished their barn and damaged some of their equipment. Please come out and support them this weekend, and we will have information on an upcoming fundraiser to help Cayuga rebuild their facilities.

Textile and compost drop-off available from 8am-2pm. Market open until 3pm on Union between Driggs and North 12th. Debit/credit, EBT, WIC and FMNO checks accepted.

For more information, visit the Greenpoint Greenmarket site. See you there!

A native New Yorker, Pam Boyle spent most of her college and post-college years pursuing a career in translation. The Spanish language, plus a growing interest to learn more about farming, led her to a family-run farm in the mountains of Costa Rica where she worked and learned the basics of maintaing a small-scale sustainable farm. Once back in Brooklyn, she was eager to learn more about the local farming communities in the tri-state area and to try out some of the farming techniques in her rooftop vegetable garden. She is very excited to be working with Greenmarkets, spending her Saturdays at Grand Army Plaza with the farmers and helping the community gain access to fresh, local food.
