Support More Green Space in Greenpoint!

by Ryan Watson on

Hey Neighbors! Greenpoint’s newest community garden and open space, the 61 Franklin Street Garden, needs your help! Local residents and community organizers have been for working months to convert the vacant lot on Franklin Street into a thriving outdoor green space for residents and members of the community. And that’s where you come in!

Members of the 61 Franklin Street Garden community will be holding a fundraising event on Wednesday, May 8th from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at The Diamond (43 Franklin Street between Calyer and Quay St.) RSVP for the event on Facebook. 20% of all proceeds from the bar will be generously donated to the garden! So come, be merry, have a drink and be part of raising the funds to construct a:

  • Phytoremediation Demonstration Garden – showing residents how they can use plants clean toxins out of the soil
  • Outdoor classroom space for local schools
  • Community Herb Bed
  • Rainwater Harvesting System
  • Native Flower Garden
  • Compost System

Spread the word, tell your neighbors! Hope to see you on May 8th and in the garden all season long!
