Voice Your Opinion on Proposed Waterfront Bus Route Tonight

Last Fall, the NYC Metro Transit Authority (MTA) proposed a new waterfront bus service connecting Long Island City and Williamsburg. The new route, the B32, would run along Kent Avenue and Franklin Street is intended to serve the expanding populations of North Brooklyn and LIC given the proposed rush of development that is being planned in our neighborhood (i.e. The Greenpoint Landing Project and Domino Sugar Factory Development). Tonight, the MTA will be conducting a public hearing to solicit public comments on the new route.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) proposes a new bus service connecting waterfront areas in Williamsburg and Greenpoint in Brooklyn to Long Island City, Queens. The new service would be named B32. The B32 would have a southern terminal at Williamsburg Bridge Plaza near the Marcy Avenue Station, travel along Broadway, Kent Avenue, Franklin Street, McGuiness Boulevard and 11th Street to the Court Square-23rd Street Station at 44th Drive and 21st Street (see map below). The new service would operate every 30 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. This route is planned to begin operating fall 2013.



The Greenpoint Waterfront Association for Parks & Planning, Inc. ("GWAPP") is a not-for-profit group, 501(c)(3), comprised of individuals, community organizations, religious institutions, and concerned citizens from the Greenpoint-Williamsburg communities dedicated to the development of parks and public access on the Greenpoint waterfront.
