New Route For Proposed MTA Waterfront Bus Line

Yesterday the MTA announced the proposed route for the new waterfront bus line that will connect Long Island City (Queens), Greenpoint and Williamsburg, with service planned to begin in September 2013. The route would run along Franklin Street in Greenpoint and Kent/Wythe Avenues in Williamsburg. The proposed route would not interfere with the initial construction of the Brooklyn Greenway and bike lane along West Street, a concern that was raised at the November Community Board 1 meeting. The goal of the bus line is to serve expanding populations of North Brooklyn and LIC given the proposed rush of development that is being planned in our neighborhood (i.e. The Greenpoint Landing Project).
