Given the highly publicized opening of the McCarren Park Pool earlier this summer (and its subsequent notorious mentions in the press) most people in North Brooklyn are pretty familiar with the $50 million renovation that was conducted by the NYC Parks Department and the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn to revive the space for public use. But did you hear about the brand new McCarren Park Play Center that is attached to the pool? For those that haven’t, here’s a quick overview of the facility, the class schedule and what they’re offering this season:

The Play Center is located at 776 Lorimer Street, between Bayard Street and Driggs Avenue, directly adjacent to the McCarren Park Pool. In addition to the programs listed above, the center also houses a brand-new basketball court, an open mic night for teenagers, lockers, meeting spaces and a computer resource center. Schedules and classes also change each season so let them know if there’s a class you’d be interested in taking.

Oh yeah, and did I mention…the New York Rangers are coming?!?!?! As part of Street Hockey NYC they’ll be sponsoring indoor hockey at the center (Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:00pm, Ages 8 – 13).
